A waveplate is an optically transparent material which resolves a beam of polarized light into two orthogonal components; retards the phase of one component relative to the other; then recombines the components into a single beam with new polarization characteristics. We produce complete series of waveplates, include achromatic waveplate, zero order waveplate, multi order waveplate, dual wavelength waveplate, telecom waveplate. The waveplates are optically inspected to ensure the most accurate phase shift measurements in the industry. We can also provide ring mount and rotate mount for waveplate.

Quarter Waveplate:

For instance a quarter-waveplate creates a quarter-wavelength phase shift and can change linearly polarized light to circular and vice versa. This is done by adjusting the plane of the incident so that it makes 45° angle with the fast axis. This gives ordinary and extraordinary waves with equal amplitude.

Half Waveplate:

The other common type of wave plate is half-wave plate, which retards one polarization by half a wavelength, or 180 degrees. This type of wave-plate changes the polarization direction of linear polarized light. Wave plates in general as well as polarizers can be described using the Jones matrix formalism, which uses a vector to represent the polarization state of light and a matrix to represent the linear transformation of a wave-plate or polarizer.
